History

White Pine Elementary School

401 E. Linden Street | Mascot: Timberwolves

White Pine Elementary proudly serves families in Southeast Boise, a community that experienced tremendous growth during the 1980s. In response to this rapid expansion, Boise voters approved a bond in December 1988 to build a new school to meet the needs of the growing neighborhood. Construction began in June 1989 on the Linden Street site—land the School District had owned for several years.

Before construction, the property was home to the East Boise Little League baseball fields. As the area continued to grow, the site evolved to support expanding educational needs, eventually making room for what would become Timberline High School. White Pine stands as an important part of that legacy of growth and community investment.

Built using the award-winning architectural design of Liberty School, White Pine was designed with fuel efficiency and long-term sustainability in mind. The 26-classroom building opened for the 1990–1991 school year and was filled to capacity on its very first day, even requiring additional portable classrooms. Continued growth in Southeast Boise led to the construction of additional schools in the years that followed.

Our school colors—royal blue, cool gray, white, and black—represent the pride and spirit of our Timberwolves. Since opening, White Pine has been guided by strong leadership. Our first principal, Dick Bogle, served the school for 14 years and helped establish a strong foundation for success. He was followed by dedicated leaders Sandy Winters, Becca Anderson, Tara Coe, Wendi Forrey, and Steve Novotny. Today, Principal Hannah Courtright continues to lead White Pine with a commitment to excellence.

White Pine Elementary continues to grow and evolve, with a strong emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and meeting the unique needs of every student. We are proud of our history and excited about the future as we remain dedicated to supporting all learners in a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment.
